Jamun

JAMUN is a collective of co-conspirators which has only been around for a little while, but we have all been creating for years. We look at life around us and hope to tell it’s stories in beautiful ways.

We are DIGITAL film makers exploring and embracing new tools of creation that technology is empowering us with. Jamun believes in the collaborative spirit of film making and is driven by inter-disciplinarian thought. Jamun is currently turned on by creating unique visual narratives for inspiring concepts and people.

AYESHA SOOD 

Ayesha Sood is a filmmaker, photographer, music connoisseur, independent thinker, and a food enthusiast based in New Delhi. She has been generating independent and commissioned projects for film and TV for over 10 years.

Ayesha started her film career in the Art Department under the guidance of Aradhana Seth, Production Designer. Till date she has worked with renowned Directors like, Deepa Mehta, Pankaj Butalia, Mira Nair, Rahul Bose, Daisy Von Mayer, and Farhan Akhtar. She has developed her craft as a filmmaker by working on both Independent and Commercial cinema as well as short and long form documentaries. Along with being a Director, Ayesha is also a photographer and DSLR cinematographer.

She wrote, directed and produced her own independent short film “The Cherry On Top” which has received acclaimed reviews and has been the official selection at film festivals in France, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Italy, US and the UK.

Music has always inspired Ayesha’s creative process and as a trained musician, her relationship with music is constantly evolving. Her role as the Director for Season Two of The Dewarists (a music documentary featuring some of India’s finest artists on Star World and 2012 bronze Cannes winner) gave her the perfect opportunity to merge her two passions: music and visuals. The Dewarists was filmed in over nine cities involving over twenty artists.

Besides film, music, and food, Ayesha is also known to indulge in her four cats.

UDAYAN BAIJAL

Udayan Baijal is a producer at Jamun with a background in international feature films, documentaries and commercials. He has worked as first assistant director on international films including Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark 30, Christopher Nolan's Batman – The Dark Knight Rises, John Madden's The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Udayan worked as the Visual Effects Assistant Director on the India leg of Ang Lee's Life of Pi.

 

Udayan has also worked in post production as an assistant editor on Slumdog Millionaire in London and in digital distribution at Emerging Pictures, New York. While at Emerging Udayan developed a keen interest in alternative distribution and marketing strategies for independent content. At Jamun, Udayan is working towards developing original cross-media content, tools and business models for filmmakers and digital artists.

Udayan holds a Bachelors degree in History from St Stephen’s College, Delhi University and a Masters in Mass Communication from A.J.K. M.C.R.C, Jamia Millia Islamia University. In May 2007 Udayan was awarded the prestigious INLAKS Scholarship to train in digital film distribution and post production with leading film companies and filmmakers in New York & London.  Udayan on imdb

REECHA UPADHYAY

Reecha has spent the last decade working on human rights policy and advocacy at the global and local levels. She has worked for the United Nations Development Programme on conflict and disaster prevention and recovery in New York, Geneva, South Sudan and New Delhi. She has also worked with a number of local NGOs in New York, Thailand, Nepal and India.  She has developed and implemented global advocacy campaigns like the Stop Rape Now campaign to end sexual violence.   Reecha has developed content and communication strategies for human rights, environment justice, labor rights and peace and security issues.  She holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the New School University in New York.
